Through a Life Fully Lived.

[blockquote source=”Henry David Thoreau”]“How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live.”[/blockquote]

I remember reading this quote as a young girl, I’m sure as part of some ‘required reading’ curriculum.

I never enjoyed these ‘forced’ readings, as inevitably it would lead to a discussion of what the passage should mean. And, being that I was always so prone to discovery – the very thought of ‘it must be’ turned me away.

Perhaps, this is the fault of our antiquated school system – that it fails to engage the thrill of exploration?

I happened upon the quote again this morning. Though now, I believe the passing of years has left me more open to its much deeper meaning.

Indeed, how vain we are to sit and ‘write’ when we’ve not yet begun to live.

My darlings, the human heart craves the fullness of connection. To all beings, to all things – it strives to enrich the very fabric of our existence.

Looking back now, I know that I have lived. I have lived through the trial and error of my experiences. I have lived through the immensity of heartbreak, and the gratitude of love ‘found’ once again. I have lived through the simplicity of a wooded trail, and the complexity of ‘ finding my way back again.’

Oh, my darlings, I have surely lived. And, I have lived enough to break open my heart, and share it with this world again.

And, I have lived through you, each day – through the love you bring, and the gifts that you share. It is the greatest blessing of my existence.

I think, perhaps, what Thoreau intended? That we might one day know the brilliance of connection, through the pages of a life, fully lived.

Namaste, my most beautiful friends ~and thank you, for the light that is so perfectly you.
