Coming Home to Self.

“Never forget that once upon a time, in an unguarded moment, you recognized yourself as a friend.” ― Elizabeth Gilbert

And yet, how often do we forget?

That we were, at once, our own greatest friend – compassionate, patient, and purposeful without end.

We were fearless in our quest for Carpe Diem! Our little shoes hopping bravely between each ‘slippery rock.’

When time was marked solely by the pangs in our tummy; and, every last hurt could be soothed by our Mother.

Where wishes were tucked inside a dandelion’s ‘feathers’. And, the power to fly in the pleats of a red cape.

In those days, trust was earned by a simple ‘crossing of heart.’ And, courage reinforced with a ‘double dog dare you.’

My goodness, how easily we forget; our stories growing larger than any heart might reasonably bear.

Is there any wonder why it’s so difficult to find love for ourselves?

We make such a habit of looking for happiness everywhere else, that – we begin to lose faith that happiness is possible, right here.

But, only when we’re willing to come home to our truest, most authentic self.

“To go home to the present moment, to take care of oneself, to get in touch with the wonders of life that are really available—that is already love. Love is to be kind to yourself, to be compassionate to yourself, to generate images of joy, and to look at everyone with eyes of equanimity and nondiscrimination.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

My darlings, in coming home to self we realize anything is possible.
