To Become One With Goodness.

In his book Courage in Both Hands, a collection of stories about non-violent heroes, Allan Hunter writes:

“The highest and most important thing in us and in those we oppose is the capacity … to see goodness and become part of it.”

I was thinking of his words this morning as I reflected upon my own life. I’ve been graced with such blessings in my life – the love of dear friends, the kindness of strangers, and adventure enough to fill several storybooks.

And, how lovely – that I may be enriched by the gift of your presence here each day?

Oh, my goodness, yes – I am most certainly blessed.

Likewise, in these 40 plus years on this earth – I’ve faced my share of challenges. And, one or two of the ‘more difficult’ personalities. Some of whom have shattered my will; and others, who’ve reinforced my purpose.

We don’t always get to choose who we’ll meet in this life. There are saints who’ll walk among us, and those intent on causing us harm.

At times, it may be difficult to hold true to our beliefs. We may feel threatened, and compelled to defend. But, in the end, do our actions support improving the ‘space between’?

No, we don’t always get to choose our experiences – but, we can opt to change our view.

To ‘be grateful for whatever opens you up’ – to see the goodness, and in time, become one with it.
