Awakening to Life’s Messengers.

I read an interesting passage this morning about those who’ll often come into our lives – and, for however brief the moment – turn our lives to chaos.

In many instances, we greet these individuals with a sense of dread – “My goodness, what do they intend to do *this* time?”

And, rightfully so – as, quite frequently, they offer the hardest life lessons to learn.

But, when we are willing to open our hearts – when we can step past that place of ego – we can finally begin to see things as they are really intended. And though their ‘eyes’, find all those tucked away places where we may still need to grow.

Buddhism teaches our main path to enlightenment exists within just these moments; that our awakening is inspired by our willingness to accept things as they really are.

Though, as many of us well know, the urge to protect is sometimes surpasses our need to grow.

As Pema Chodron so eloquently states, “To stay with a broken heart, with a rumbling stomach, with the feeling of hopelessness and wanting to get revenge – that is the path of true awakening.”

Though, terribly uncomfortable – these negative circumstances help push us to our ‘edge’; and, in times, past all those barriers that we’ve kept hidden inside.

Nothing goes away, my darlings, until it has finally taught us what we *need* to know. And, these people who’ll often come into our lives – they are the messengers of the most spiritual kind.
