Peaceful Blessings for All.

Oh, my darlings – do I have a joy-filled update for you.

So many have responded to the image of Jim Routon and his neighbor, Hezekiah.

I had felt compelled to share this image not too long ago, and – in the midst of all the racial tensions.

I had felt so saddened by these turning of events, particularly as it is my desire to see all humans living in peace.

That may seem a far off dream when not even our elementary schools are safe from this ‘disease’.

But, still I hope; still, I dream.

I lived in a very small town. Our classrooms held no more than 15 students. And, we knew each of those 15 other families. We knew them well. It was a time in which neighbors helped without having to be asked. And little ones learned the value of ‘doing the right thing’.

My mother always set another place at the table, “Just in case,” she’d smile. Our home was open to all passersby, irrespective of race, class, or inclination.

I don’t understand unfounded bias. I guess I’m just too simple, that way. I believe life is too short to hold onto hatred, and far too glorious to let love slip away.

So, I wrote this story, a frame for a picture snapped immediately following the storms in Oklahoma. If you recall, a deadly F5 tornado ripped through the town, leveling all that dared stand in its way.

The first photo is that of, Jim Routon, learning his 8 year old neighbor, Hezekiah, had survived the storm.

The posting has done quite well, with over 500 comments and many more ancillary discussions occurring now around the world. Each discussion has served to reinforce my simple belief – that love transcends all barriers.

Tonight, of all nights, the wife of the man in the photo reached out to say – that she had found peace within each comment. She then sent me this updated photo – of two glorious pals. It led to a beautifully uplifting conversation – and, a reaffirmation of what matters most of all.

Love.

I write every single day – even days when I feel a little run down. Why? Because, I feel there is always someone in this world whose heart needs a little lifting. So, that’s what I try, at least to do – by way of my simple words.

I thought the photo was absolutely lovely, so I wanted to share it right here with you.

Isn’t it amazing how we are all connected? From one image, the faith of so many is restored.

Love and blessings to you, my darlings ~ and a wish for peace to all.

❤️
