This Gift of Holding Space.

What does it mean to hold space for another?

We hear the term, at times, so casually – but, do ever take the time to contemplate its much deeper meaning?

To ‘hold space’ is to honor another; to hold steadfast to the delicate energy shared between – without words, without labels, without needing to know why.

To ‘hold space’ for another is to withstand the forces that often come between.

And, it is by far the most sacred of our connections.

To truly support someone in their growth and transformation, we need to place expectation and ego aside – to be fully present when heart is needed.

“When you love someone,” shares Thich Nhat Hanh “the best you can offer is your presence. How can you love if you are not there?”

Indeed, how can you ever completely love another – if you, yourself, aren’t fully there.

In holding the space – we are offering the gift of our presence…without condition, or need for return.

It is the most basic and yet profound of our teachings.

And, I believe it to be the only way that humanity’s love might prevail.

A little something to consider, my darlings ~ a practice that we might include in our every moment.

Namaste.
