Sometimes the Falling *is* the Adventure.

I remember this day so very fondly.

The air was crisp and welcoming of the day, as the trees sang their heralds to dawn.

Up and down and up again he tried, until he tossed the bike aside and cried, “Mommy, I can’t.”

“It doesn’t matter if you fall,” I whispered. “Sometimes falling *is* the adventure.”

With that, he raced right off — fearless to that ‘what might happen next.’

He spent the day, red faced and huffing — taking in a sweetness of life he hadn’t experienced before. The path ahead now seemed limitless, as he courageously sailed with only adventure to mind.

Isn’t it amazing how easily fear settles in? Eager to set a course that is not our own — and until our perspective shifts a bit.

Every so often, I am reminded of these moments — lessons as much mine as they were his own.

My darlings, it’s ok to fall – you know. To take a risk and skin those knees, to lose — then find courage once again.

It’s part of life and it *is* the adventure, a sharing known only to those who’ve tried.

It is precisely that risk my dearest darlings – which keeps our hearts grounded to ‘home.’

And though we may travel far, face unknown paths yet to be explored — we shall never lose that which was inherently vested:

A passion for life impervious to fear.

A little something to consider, my loves ~ a sharing of heart from faded photograph.
