The Practice of Interbeing.

I’m inspired this morning by the words of Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hanh, who writes:

“If we are a drop of water, and we try to get to the ocean as only an individual drop, we will surely evaporate along the way. To arrive at the ocean, you must go as a river.”

He was speaking to the value and place of community, and our ability to ‘build sangha’ within each moment.

“The sangha is your river,” he shares. “In our daily practice, we learn how to be a part of this river. We learn how to look with sangha eyes, how to walk with sangha feet, how to feel with a sangha heart. We have to train ourselves to see the happiness of our community as our own happiness and to see the difficulties of our community as our own difficulties.”

My loves, within each moment, we are gifted this opportunity. We may grow the energy of compassion and love. We may turn our energy inwards towards a collective whole. We may engage the sangha heart.

Or,

We may choose to walk this path alone. We may explore individuality as a means to an end. We may embrace this heart of one.

Either way, it is our choice. Some, may venture based upon faith; though, in reality – it is a matter of practice.

Practice by way of our daily actions and interactions with those of another.

You see, this path of enlightenment is best traveled by foot; step-by-step our heart learns the way. And reinforcing that simple truth:

We are what we practice.

My loves, today I encourage you to practice your sangha; to grow by way of interbeing.

In peace…
