The Heart of Selflessness.

How do we engage the energy of selfless compassion? More specifically, is it possible to truly place the needs of others completely before our own?

Though, to be selfless requires a sense of vulnerability; we must transcend our own insecurities and fears in order to be present for another.

The teachings of Buddha help us to realize our capacity for human kindness and compassion. We recognize the inherent nature of our inner truth, to stand in service of others. Though, all too often we struggle with the manifestation of this energy within our daily lives. We stop shot in offering our hearts freely and without condition.

Is it our past hurt which inhibits our behavior? Perhaps, the need for certainty of outcome? Or, our unwillingness to know the ‘what happens next’?

Though, in reality, humanity very much needs our love.

“So the question,” asks Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hanh. “is not whether there is understanding and love around us, but do we have the capacity to generate the energy of understanding and love. If we can, then maybe we can make everyone our partner.”

My darlings, this is the heart of selfless compassion. And, this is the true message of the Buddha.

That we, ourselves, determine our capacity to love.

In peace, dear hearts…
