The Habit of Hurry.

Have you ever felt the complexities of pace? That ceaseless, inner-nagging voice reminding us of all that has been ‘missed’?

We want it all – love, happiness, success. And, yet?

We struggle to manage these aspects of three, in a world that will accommodate far less. Our inclination is to hurriedly dash; to create more time, rather than to simplify what’s already there.

We’ve all experienced the angst of failed attempt; I know I certainly have. I’ve been so caught up in the energy of doing, that I’ve failed to appreciate this moment, just as it is.

Like a rushing brook, we are whisked away from present moment – chasing idealized ambitions of equanimity and balance. While at the same time, strengthening our hold – refusing to relinquish that which may be holding us back.

Even the mundane may prove challenging – the washing, the sorting, the endless choring. As pace increases, our tolerance wanes – locked into this cycle of never once ending.

If only we might make a habit of rest, of taking a moment to appreciate these blessings of day.

“It’s hard to change longstanding habits and patterns,” shares Ram Dass. “But if we slow down, pay attention, and become more present, we begin to notice and discover things about life and ourselves that previously escaped our attention. And we can enjoy life more while we practice and develop new behaviors and habits that better serve us.”

My darlings, it’s these habits which serve that help to carry us through.

In peace…
